Summertown Bluegrass Reunion 2007 Begins June 14
The 2007 Summertown Bluegrass Reunion, scheduled to get underway June 14, offers an abundance of family-friendly activities. The entire event is security patrolled, and all alcoholic beverages are prohibited.
The first night of the three-day event, Thursday, June 14, has been dubbed “family night.” Admission will be free and the event will boast “open stage” for all wishing to perform. A catfish supper will also be available.
A “Shade Tree Band Contest” is planned for 6:00 p.m. Friday, June 15. A $200 prize will be awarded to the band taking first place. Second place will be awarded $150, and third $100. The winners will be determined by audience ballot. The stage show begins at 7:00 p.m. Friday. Admission on Friday is $6.00. There will also be a drawing for a beautiful quilt.
Admission to Saturday’s full day of events is $8.00 per person. The winner of Saturday’s drawing will be awarded $200.00 cash. Stage shows will get underway at noon. Also on the day’s calendar of events is a Buck Dance Contest, set to begin at 5:00 p.m. Age groups are: Lil Doll - 10 years and under, Jr. Dance - 11 through 35, and Sr. Dance - age 36 and over. Prizes will be awarded, including: 1st place - $25, 2nd place - $15, and 3rd place - $10. Winners will be determined by audience ballot.
A variety of dance events are planned. In addition, instrument and craft vendors will be on hand.
The event is held on Highway 240 in Summertown, ½ mile east of U.S. Highway 43.
Camping will be available on a first-come-first-served basis beginning at dawn on Saturday, June 9.
